PAST EVENTS:

-As you may know, Spirit of the Sun has moved locations! However, we had yet to show our new home off to our community! Thank you to all that stopped by at our Open House on Thursday, June 28th from 4-7pm. There was food, refreshments, and items leftover from our Silent Auction ready to purchase! We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

-Thank you to all that participated in Shannon Francis’ Birthday Fundraiser Event! The event ran from June 15th – June 25th, 2018, and we were able to raise $595 that will go to supporting and empowering our Native youth. We appreciate all the support we received from the community and are so glad we have help in making such a positive impact. Thank you all again for your generosity and support!

-This past weekend Spirit of the Sun held a Financial Literacy Session for Native youths aged 14-24. This event focused on improving financial literacy, helping the youth gain valuable interview and resume skills. This took place on Saturday June 16th, 2018 from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the Denver Indian Center Inc located on 4407 Morrison Rd, Denver, CO 80219, USA.

-Spirit of the Sun hosted a Silent Auction Fundraiser on May 24th, 2018! We had vendors, food, performances, and talks from some of our partners. All proceeds helped us to continue to support and empower Native Youth!

     

 

-Spirit of the Sun hosted a Spending Frenzy budgeting simulation on January 27, 2018 from 9 AM to 12 PM at 4 Winds Center, 205 W 5th Ave, Denver, CO 80204. This is part of our reworked Indigenous Youth Financial Fitness Program, and was a great opportunity for Youth to come together for a fun and educational event!

      

 

-Spirit of the Sun hosted a Native Youth Entrepreneurial Training event on Saturdays, September 16th, October 7th and 14th, 2017 from 10am to 2pm. This event helped to set up Native youth with skills for the future including but not limited to financial literacy.

        

 

-Spirit of the Sun tabled at the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference Saturday, February 4th, 2016. The CCDC is a program organized by the the non-profit organization, Youth Celebrate Diversity. They are dedicated to educating and empowering youth in order to advance equity for all. Learn more about their mission and more details on the event.

 

-Spirit of the Sun also held free Urban Native Entrepreneurial Training Programs in 2016 to give Native community members skills in business and finance.
