The fifth Urban Indian Entrepreneurial Training Seminar was held April 29-30, 2015 at the Denver Indian Center. It was sponsored by Spirit of the Sun in partnership with the Denver Indian Center and the Rocky Mountain Indian Chamber of Commerce. Together, with funding from Xcel Energy, we provided a free two day training seminar to anyone interested in starting or growing their own business.
Each day, speakers discussed topics like: how to know if you’re ready to start a business; the relationship between culture, community and business; personal and business finance; marketing/advertising; and business planning. Participants received a manual with information about starting and running a business, which they could keep and take home with them.
There were 12 participants, each with a wide variety of business interests: beading, catering, media, insurance, law, and more. It was a welcoming and respectful environment with a lot of questions and great discussion. Testimonials include: “Thank you for your help! It was great info.” and “Very inspirational!”
The next Urban Indian Entrepreneurial Training Seminar will be September 23-24 from 9-4 each day, at the Denver Indian Center. If you are interested in attending, please contact Eileen Masquat at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-936-2688 ext. 117.
